Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups All-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¾ cup shortening (or 1 ½ sticks (¾ cup) salted butter)

  • 1 ¼ cup milk (of your preference)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit

  2. In your stand mixer (I use a KitchenAid that I just bought and it’s the best thing I've ever purchased) sift together dry ingredients

3. Using a dough hook mix in the shortening or butter (I prefer shortening when making biscuits)

4. Slowly pour in milk and continue mixing until dough is formed

5. Once dough is formed you can start making your biscuits. This recipe makes 7-8 biscuits depending on the size. You can arrange your biscuits in a cast iron pan, so they are all touching on the edges- I use a mini cake pan so they're all exactly the same size and look pretty, but that’s just a preference

6. Once you’ve arranged your biscuits in a pan, put then in the oven for 15-18 minutes depending how golden-brown you prefer your biscuits
